Directions & Parking
Waterford School is located on 9400 South in Sandy, UT.
9400 South is accessible from 1300 East, if coming from the North or South; 2000 East / Highland Drive if coming from the North; and 9000 South (which curves into 9400 South) if coming from I-15 (from the West).
To reach Waterford’s Performing Arts Building:
- Travel along 9400 South (heading either West or East toward 1700 East)
- Turn South onto 1700 East
- Take the second right (West) at 9545 South; you will see a sign that says Speed Limit 10 and another that says Concert Hall | Administration | Maintenance
- Pull into Event Parking (a gravel parking area) on your right
The Performing Arts Building, #800 is the South-most building on the campus; enter through the East doors.
Lodging, Restaurants, and Copy Centers
A group of rooms has been reserved for conference participants at a discounted rate of $77.99+tax per night at the Midvalley Crystal Inn at 818 East Winchester Street (approximately 6400 South) Murray, Utah 84107. To book a room at this rate, call 801.293.2056 and ask for a room with the Young Readers Workshop; make sure to request the shuttle service to the conference. The Crystal Inn includes the following amenities at no extra charge: hot buffet breakfast, light dinner buffet, airport shuttle, high speed wireless internet, and parking. The rooms are extra spacious and include a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, iron, ironing board, and hair dryer. There is a 24 hour convenience store, an indoor pool, spa and fitness center, as well as an internet café. The Midvalley Crystal Inn will be running one shuttle each morning and one shuttle each afternoon to/from the conference.
The hotel is within 8 minutes walking distance of Wheeler Historic Farm (South Cottonwood Regional Park).
UTA bus #209 westbound (you can catch this at one of the stops on the north side of the street across from the hotel) will take you to Fashion Place Mall (.8 miles from the hotel) and several surrounding stores and eateries, including Red Lobster, Red Robin, Jason’s Deli, the Macaroni Grill, and the Cheesecake Factory. It will also take you to the 6400 South Trax Station (Fashion Place West), where you can catch a high speed northbound train to downtown Salt Lake City. If you take a bus to Trax, make sure to ask for a transfer slip, so you don’t have to pay another fare.
UTA bus #209 eastbound (you can catch this at one of the stops on the south side of the street near the hotel) will also take you to downtown Salt Lake City.
UTA’s website lists current fares and includes a route finder, where you can look up bus route #209; you can also see the schedule for the train (#701, North/South Trax Line) to downtown Salt Lake. UTA offers live trip planning help via phone.

Some of the hotels offer free shuttle service, so make sure to request this at the time of your registration. The Google map also includes information for nearby food places and copy centers.
Airport and Ground Transportation
You will want to fly into the Salt Lake International Airport. You can arrange to rent a car or take a taxi or airport shuttle from there to your hotel. One local hotel recommended Xpress Shuttle, which offers door-to-door service.
